OUR STORY

SWARNA KALA MANDIR, a traditional Indian Performing Arts Company was started in the year 2018 with a mission to propagate the rich Indian Classical Dance and Music in Singapore. The company provides training in the Indian Classical dance forms, Bharatanatyam and Kathak with branches in Yishun and Choa Chu Kang. Within a short span of its inception, the company has over 100 students who have either started their journey in learning Bharatanatyam or currently pursuing their advanced training. Through a well formatted syllabus, the students at Swarna Kala Mandir undergo rigorous training in both theory and practical aspects of both the dance forms. Many of its students have also been actively participating in competitions and winning prizes in the same. Scholarships are also awarded to deserving pupils from low income families who earnestly outshine in this art. The artistes of Swarna Kala Mandir have also been performing at various venues in Singapore, Malaysia and India including the prestigious Esplanade Outdoor theatre for “Kala Utsavam 2022 Open stage”. In the year 2022, two senior students at SKM successfully presented their Arangetrams. In 2019, the company successfully staged its first dance production titled “Dhaara- the Divine Rainfall” with live music at Gateway Black Box. Recently in August 2023, the repertory staged its second production titled “Shanmatham- Six paths to Divinity” at Alliance Francaise to a full house audience, gaining positive reviews from critics and senior artistes.
